Dodge Durango 2011 IIHS Top Safety Pick when built after May 2011
IIHS puts vehicles through four tests, including a high-speed frontal offset crash test, a high-speed side impact crash test, a rear impact test to evaluate the seat/head restraints, and a roof strength test.
The 2011 IIHS Top Safety pick is awarded to vehicles that receive the highest rating possible ("Good") in all four of these tests, and the vehicle must offer electronic stability control (ESC) as well. The 2011 Charger, Journey, Avenger and the Dodge Durango that was built after May 2011 all received ratings of "Good" in all four tests, and they offer ESC as standard equipment.
